One-day Conference for Pastor and Christian Workers

Old Buswang, Kalibo, Aklan

May 18, 2009

CGM/ACTION in cooperation with Northwestern Visayas District Council of the Assemblies of God and Aklan Christian Ministers Movement successfully conducted a One-day Conference for 128 Aklanon Pastors and Full-time Christian Workers on May 18, 2009.

It was warmly hosted by New Assembly of God Church located in Brgy. Old Buswang, one of the 16 Barangays of the best known venue of Ati-atihan Festival and gateway to Boracay island via the port of Caticlan, “Kalibo, Aklan”.

According to Pastora Rowena Andrade, our conference coordinator at Kalibo, and other pastors; “The conference, the theme and the topics discussed by Bro. Jeff Anderson and Rev. Willie Basilio are “well-matched” to our needs”. “We are showered with different seminars here about Leadership and other topics. But this is our first time to have a conference about family and family issues, this is indeed an effective and valuable conference”, she added.

Pastor Cyril Agustino of Aklan Baptist Church together with other pastors has this to say, “We are thankful to CGM and ACTION for bringing the conference here. The speakers are anointed; they tackled the issues without reservations”.

“We were “bitin” (left wanting for more). We hope that you will conduct conferences again here”, they added.

Topic: Spiritual Maturity as Measurement of Church Growth

WOWSE, “With or Without Someone Else, we have to work, and work for the glory of God.” This is just one of the challenges conveyed by Rev. Paul Caampued, the Secretary General of Reformed Presbyterian and the Director of Pastoral Training Course (PTC) to the 70 participants of CGM/ACTION’s One-day Conference held at SICAP (Samar Integrated Community Advancement Project) Center, Calbayog City on May 20, 2009.

The Seventy (70) participants are composed of 34 Pastors and 36 Full-time Christian workers who came from different towns of Northern Samar (Catarman, Victoria, San Isidro, Sta Margarita, Catubig) and Calbayog City, Western Samar. Early bird, Ptra. Estella Castillo, whose ministry is in the mountains of Catubig, came the day before the Conference because she has to take a 3 hours walk on a flooded rice field just to reach the town proper of Catubig, Northern Samar.

Integrity in Ministry - Part 2 PDF  | Print |

Date: March 23, 2009

Place: New Tribes Missionary Training Center

Conference Speaker: Rev. Tom Crouse

Devotional Speaker: Rev. Mike Lacanilao

No. of Delegates: 149

The conference started at around 8:15 in the morning with an opening prayer led by Pastor Lito de Guzman, Church Assistance Program Officer. The program started 15 minutes advance since most of the delegates came earlier than usual and the earliest delegates came all the way from the province of Quezon. Pastor Mike Lacanilao delivered the devotional message based on the book of Psalms which part of the message shared his testimony which is very fitted in the theme “Integrity in Ministry”.

Bro. Adam Hussey of ACTION International Ministries introduced the main speaker Pastor Tom Crouse where he divided his topic into four sessions: First, Integrity with our Doctrine (1 Timothy1:3-7); Second, Integrity with the order of Our Churches (1Timothy 2:8-15); Third, Integrity when Facing Opposition (1Timothy 4:11-16); and lastly, Integrity in Teaching about Giving (Philippians 4:14-23).

During the first session, Pastor Tom talked about The Effect of Good Doctrine where he emphasized 1Timothy 1:5 which is about “Love, Pure Heart, Good Conscience, and Sincere Faith”. He strongly said that the true meaning of Good Conscience is “We must think like God and not be a God” because most Christians are over spiritualizing as if they would not fall into temptation (1 Corinthians 10:12) but he also warned that they must not tolerate the habit of sinning but rather continue to be rooted and grounded in love. He also deals with the Effects of Strange Doctrine quoted in 1Timothy 1:4 these are fruitless discussions that affects the church, and those promoting want to be teachers, being arrogant in their presentation, are just some of the highlights of this session.

Couples Conference and Retreat with Dr. & Mrs. Rod Pence & Ptr. Clem Guillermo

Dec. 8-10, 2008

A Thre-Day Conference and Retreat for Couples in Ministry

In the afternoon of December 8, couples (pastors, Christian workers and their wives) started to converge in Bukal ng Tipan, a very lovely retreat house outside of Metro Manila. With its scenic view and nice surrounding, the place even looked lovelier in the evenings as it is overlooking the whole of Metro Manila. The dazzling of lights from afar seems to create a romantic atmosphere. And to top it all, each couple was assigned to a room. A couple who was married in 1963 and have been involved in the ministry for 45 years said “With gratefulness to God for the privilege to spend together in one room!!! Greatly appreciated!!!” A newly-married couple said “It has been a good conference and experience for relaxation, bonding, strengthening and learning for both of us.”

A total of 52 couples coming from as far as Pampanga and Batangas, came. Not only they represented different denominations, but it was also a mixture of young and old couples. But all of them have the same desire – to take part in this special retreat for couples sponsored by ACTION/CGM, as well as enjoy a brief respite from the ministry where each one is involved.
